BVCOE NSS UNIT

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji’s Birth Centenary Year 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at intermediate level working for a campus-community linkage. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organized by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.

BVCOE, runs NSS since 2013. We started NSS unit with Girls and Boys in 2013. In 2013, 100 seats of one unit of NSS had been allotted as regular vacancy under the SFS Scheme for both Girls & Boys.

Now BVCOE NSS is Government funded grant-in-aid NSS Unit from 2022 with 200 volunteer by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and our NSS unit is also approved as Grant in add NSS unit by the GGSIP. University NSS cell. In 2016 BVCOE NSS has been awarded with Delhi colleges best NSS unit award.

The basic unit of NSS normally comprises of 100 volunteers at school/ college level. BVCOE NSS unit in an institution is led by a teacher designated as ‘Programme Officer (PO)’ Dr Anil Kumar, which plays a pivotal role as an educator, organizer, coordinator, supervisor, administrator and public relations person for the NSS unit.

  • A National service scheme contingent of 160 (boys and girls) participants selected after a rigorous test participates in the Republic day parade camp for 3 weeks at New Delhi in the month of January every year.
  • NSS volunteer completing 240 hours of regular community service in a period of two years is to be issued an NSS certificate by the college / +2 level Institution or the University/Directorate of education.

Swachhata Drive 2025 was organized to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental awareness among the community. NSS volunteers actively participated in cleaning public spaces such as parks, roads, and nearby localities, while also conducting awareness rallies and door-to-door campaigns. They educated people about proper waste segregation, recycling practices, and the harmful effects of plastic pollution. The drive not only improved the surroundings but also instilled a sense of civic responsibility among citizens.

SIP 2025  was organized to welcome and guide newly admitted students into the college environment. NSS volunteers played an active role in helping freshers gain insights about various student chapters, societies, and opportunities available in the institution. They also coordinated the entire orientation process by managing registrations, guiding students and parents, and ensuring smooth workflow throughout the sessions. Each volunteer was assigned specific duties, such as crowd management, stage coordination, and information support, which helped maintain discipline and organization. The programme created a friendly and supportive atmosphere, making the transition for new students comfortable and informative.

NSS Day 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm to mark the importance of social service and volunteerism. The program began with the NSS pledge, followed by speeches highlighting the role of youth in nation-building. Cultural performances, skits, and presentations were organized to spread messages about social responsibility and unity. The celebration motivated volunteers to continue their service with dedication and inspired new students to join NSS.

Viksit Bharat 2025 aimed at spreading awareness about the vision of a developed and self-reliant India. NSS volunteers organized seminars, group discussions, and awareness campaigns focusing on innovation, digital development, and sustainable growth. They highlighted the importance of education, skill development, and responsible citizenship in achieving national progress. The initiative encouraged students to actively contribute towards building a stronger and more progressive nation.

Yuva Connect 2025 was designed to engage youth in meaningful activities that promote leadership, teamwork, and personal growth. The event included interactive sessions, workshops, group discussions, and motivational talks by experienced speakers. Volunteers participated in activities that enhanced communication skills, confidence, and problem-solving abilities. The program created a platform for young minds to connect, share ideas, and work together for social development.

The Blood Donation Camp 2025 was organized to support healthcare services and save lives. NSS volunteers took the initiative to spread awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation through posters, social media, and personal outreach. Proper medical arrangements were made to ensure the safety and comfort of donors. The camp witnessed active participation from students and staff, making it a successful effort in contributing to emergency medical needs.

The Youth Exchange Program 2025 provided a platform for cultural interaction and learning among youth from different regions. Participants shared their traditions, languages, and experiences through cultural performances, discussions, and group activities. The program promoted unity in diversity and helped students gain a broader perspective of the country. It also strengthened communication, adaptability, and mutual respect among participants, fostering national integration.
