Introduction

The Information Theory and Coding Laboratory at Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of engineering, New Delhi campus is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the fundamental concepts of data compression, error detection, and error correction techniques used in modern communication systems. This laboratory enables students to implement and analyze coding schemes using MATLAB, a powerful tool for simulating and visualizing information-theoretic concepts.

 Objectives of the Laboratory

  • To understand the efficient, error-free and secure delivery of information using binary streams
  • To have in-depth knowledge of error-control coding
  • To learn the process of encoding and decoding of digital data streams
  • To learn and apply the methods of generation of these codes and evaluate the performance of them over the noisy communication channels
